Hi and welcome to Syd’s Surf Shop!

My name is Syd, and since the age of 18, I've been working on the creation of  SSS. 2 years later, in March of 2022, I designed and launched the first line of handmade SSS suits. 

About me personally, I live in Santa Monica, CA. I graduated in 2024 with a BFA in graphic design at LMU. I also went to University of Oregon for my freshman and sophomore years, which is where I began SSS. I have been swimming competitively since the age of 6, and practically live in swimwear, especially in the summer. My love for the water sports, swimwear, and design all came together with this brand. 

From 2020-2022, I bought a variety of sample fabrics to test, taught myself how to design patterns, use a sewing machine properly, and eventually, learned how to sew the infamous triangle bikini pattern. In the meantime, I created a simple website for an online location to sell my suits. I transformed my apartment bedroom into a sewing studio space, and spent my free time focused on sewing handmade SSS suits. I was overwhelmed by the positive feedback from my first few lines of suits, which kept me extremely busy! 

Towards August of 2022, I began working with a manufacturer, to help me produce an even larger supply of suits! Working with a manufacturer has given me the opportunity to graphic design my own fabric patterns, design suit patterns, and work closely with more professionals in the industry of fashion design. 

Now, after a year of refining my brand and website, I am excited to share with you the new and improved Syd’s Surf Shop!
